The unincorporated town of Ypsilanti, and Ypsilanti Township, are located in Stutsman County, North Dakota. The township, which was organized on March 17, 1908, shortly after the area was opened to homesteading, transacts all business for the town of Ypsilanti, as the townsite has never been officially incorporated, although it has been settled since 1882. At the time of the 2010 census, Ypsilanti Township had a population of one hundred and four, yet the townsite and township have enjoyed a long and interesting history. Featured here is a general overview of the community, along with a comprehensive history of its early settlers, businesses, schools, and organizations, including historical and contemporary photographs.
