History of one of the Most Important Nguni nations outside South Africa.The Ndebele are now found in Zimbabwe having fled South Africa during Shaka Zulus mfecane. They fled South Africa in 1825 under the leadership of Mzilikazi, a general in Shaka Zulu`s army. Other Nguni nations include Zulus and Xhosas of South Africa, Swazis of Swaziland and South Africa and Ngonis now found in Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Tanzania. The Ngonis left South Africa around the 1800s fleeing South Africa. The Ndebele are now found in Matabeleland region of Zimbabwe formerly Southern Rhodesia. Their second leader was Lobengula who led the Matabele rebellion against British rule and was defeated by Cecil Rhodes forces. They now do not have a paramount leader as other Nguni groups do. more info >>
