Dines Gihwala is a retired South African Lawyer, acting Judge and member of the team that successful managed South Africa's first democratic elections. (for which he won a Gold Merit Award from the IEC. Mr Gihwalas career as an attorney started in 1978 and he has recently retired. In this time he has served as an Judge of the Western Cape and is recongnized as one of the world pre-eminent experts on arbitration. Mr Gihwala became a darling of the media, after he gave a disabled orphan a suit and a pair of shoes to attend a matric dance. Mr Gihwala was presiding over a case involving the boys widowed mother at the time.
