Cartography is the art and science of depicting a geographical area in graphical form on various types of maps. For the last half millennium now, surveyors and cartographers have measured and documented the surface of the Earth, and they have recorded their findings on maps. Some people study maps to learn about terrain features or highway and road layouts, while others use them to plan business trips or vacation getaways. Still others consider maps to be artworks, suited for framing or displaying in a museum. This website comprises several static and interactive world maps as well as statistical data about the seven continents and their countries.
