A private collection of Chinese Ceramics, Animistic Carvings and Ikat Weavings, the majority of which were obtained between 1987 – 1997 in Eastern Indonesia. These rare and exquisite art works are now offered for private sale. The Chinese Ceramics originated in China and were brought in the region over many hundreds of years by Arab, Chinese, Portuguese & Dutch traders to exchange for Sandalwood and spices. The Animistic Carvings were an integral part of the traditional religion and were crafted as Totems, Tombstones, fertility symbols and adorned every significant house in each village, The Ikat Weavings vary in motif and colour from each island, the work it takes to complete each hand woven piece can take months
